Only problem is if too many obvious effort-to-reward savants pick the same TTT as you and ruin the curve. Once this info left the underground and hit TLS, the gravy train is obviously nearing its end.

The same xoxo wisdom that was shrugged off as "overly negative" a few years ago has pretty much become conventional TLS wisdom. I've watched it happen.Dr. Dre wrote:rank in terms of negativity:

Re: XO's guide to Law School and the future
I still think TLS is too optimistic. People shoot for the T14 and make decisions based on the past years hiring data. Often they assume the next year will be better.blsingindisguise wrote:The same xoxo wisdom that was shrugged off as "overly negative" a few years ago has pretty much become conventional TLS wisdom. Also so many kids are blindsided when they don't get callbacks or offers. They have always succeeded under a formula where if you get x grade you get y reward. So they look at charts and assume if they are above median they will get a job. This isn't the case. And even if it were true, being below median is a real possibility.
All data about hiring not improving, firm profits being flat, layoffs and no offers are pretty much ignored. This years summer class may turn out to be smaller than last years. It's too early to tell, but hiring definitely isn't markedly improving.
What bothers me the most is that people seem to find the drop in medians and applications as a positive sign. But the reason behind the drop is that people realize that law is a risky and expensive career choice. A significant number of the top scorers find something else to do instead of law.
So yeah, to me, too optimistic.
