Chapman Law to be renamed Dale E. Fowler School of Law
Hopefully this is the right forum for this. I don't even know what to say about this. This guy just bought his way to having a law school named after him?

That's an insane amount of money. To compare, UCI only got 20 mil from Donald Bren.

Wow. Maybe Fowler School of Law will someday surpass schools like McGeorge, Santa Clara, and UCI.ManoftheHour wrote:That's an insane amount of money. To compare, UCI only got 20 mil from Donald Bren.

Why do non-lawyers donate boatloads of cash to law schools. I dont get it.
this made me lolChapman University’s law school opened in 1995 as California’s only law school on a university campus in Orange County.

If Chapman plays their cards right, they could do pretty well.
MAYBE THEY'LL BE A T20 SCHOOL LIKE UCI.

Someone that I know who goes there posted this on FB minutes ago. She was in India/partying for her 1L summer. The thing is, she was actually relatively smart so Idk how she not only didn't have the foresight to avoid 38% employment score Chapman, but also failed to understand that she needs to hustle, especially during summers.

lol depends on your definition. I'm not too keen on how much money her parents have, but I highly doubt that it's enough to sustain her for life. Her parents seem pretty well off, though, and maybe she got a good scholly(though Chapman has bad stips from what I gather).jselson wrote:Is she rich?t-14orbust wrote:Someone that I know who goes there posted this on FB minutes ago. edit: lol, her sorority's advisor posted this comment on the link: "Why don't they pay off student loans for the law school students and alumnae instead? THAT would be valuable."
She said exactly what I wanted to say

Why are UCI and Chapman apologists always talking about Orange County like its some goldmine untapped legal market? USC/UCLA are right fucking there. It's like a goddamn 30 minute drive.

i agree with everything, but you crazy bro. usc to oc in a lot less than 30 minutes? what? even in no traffic it'll take more like 40ish mins; with traffic, more like 1.5 hours. lulz.Redfactor wrote:I don't get it either. Los Angeles, Pasadena, Long Beach, Burbank, Anaheim, Irvine, Orange County.... It's all just Los Angeles.
Just one big-ass Los Angeles sprawl of concrete and cars.
I don't understand people's obsession in Cali about their home "city" and celebrating their separation/independence from someone born a few miles down the road. And the kids shoot at each other over it. Just stupid.
If it's north of Pendleton it's Los Angeles. If it's south of Pendleton it's San diego, imo.
but yeah, OC is not really it's own separate market...it's ridiculous.

uci copped 20 mil, has inflated LST numbers due to full schollys given to the 1st incoming class, isn't respected in orange county

yea.....30 minutes from LA to OC? maybe LA county to Orange County (i.e from Long Beach to Huntington Beach) but if you are actually saying from USC to Chapman 30 minutes? then you must be dreaming. Also, for people that have no expectation of big law, want to stay in Southern CA, and can get a full scholly, this is actually not a bad choice.

Chapman is still better than this:
