both northwestern and vandy are pretty unlikely with a 3.5/166 unless you are urm or have something else going for you. ed admissions at northwestern is also more difficult than regular admissions cause of the scholarship.

wustl is a decent choice if you can cop a good scholarship, especially since you arent gunning for biglaw. if you are serious about trying for public interest or government work, school prestige is not as important as it is for firm hiring (excluding uber prestige gov or pi work). should really focus on graduating with as little debt as possible and filling your resume with pi or gov work.

Go to WUSTL if they give you the full ride.

If you aren't going to retake, go to WUSTL

seems a bit premature as you are trying to make a decision based on several assumptions of things that may or may not happen. while you may very well get offered a scholarship, there is also a big chance that the generosity of months past does not carry over to july when schools are more inclined to take a "take it or leave it" approach to their wait list candidates.

In the event that you do get offered a full scholarship, it would probably be a good idea to take it as the chances of a better outcome through reapplying are a toss up at best.

On a side note, if you don't wish to be in MO; your connections in MO should be irrelevant to your decision.

If you get the full ride at WUSTL, that will be better than anything you would get with a 166 next year. A T14 acceptance isn't happening without a retake. You might pick up one of UT/UCLA/Vandy/USC next year, but not at a price that would make any sense whatsoever.

This. ED to NU or GW with a 166 isn't gonna happen because both schools include full-scholarships as part of an ED acceptance, thus raising the bar. ED to Vandy/USC is unlikely as well, most likely you'd get deferred into RD. Even if you got in, it would probably be at sticker. Also, a 166 next cycle might not get u a comparable offer from WUSTL. They need the 166 this year, it might not be so crucial next year, especially now that WUSTL has recovered from last year's ranking drop.

Unless you re-take and get a 168+, there's nothing to be gained by re-applying with a 166

Thanks to everyone who posted! WUSTL came through with full tuition today, and I realize that I'm pretty lucky to have that opportunity. Looks like I'll be heading to St. Louis next month!

Can't believe five points took me from being waitlisted to a $145,035 scholarship; retaking definitely paid off.

yo dude, grats on the score jump! I went from 162->166 cuz of TLS retake sentiment and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. As for reapplying, I don't think it'll get you into NU/Vandy and other T20s (except GWU, and you'd be paying sticker or close to it) so reapplying won't really make much of a difference unless you retake again. In this case WUSTL full-ride seems like a good choice. Congrats again
