GW $ or Georgetown?

Post by RedTiger56 » Fri May 03, 2013 5:07 pm

GW has given $48,000 (total)...Georgetown $0

Looking for corporate/transactional law.

Are employment outcomes significantly better at Georgetown ($48,000 better?) to warrant giving up a decent scholarship at GW?

I will not have to pay interest on loans, so that is a point for Georgetown, but I'm wondering if Georgetown's outcomes justify foregoing GW at these prices.

EDIT:
LST COA

Georgetown 263,000
GW 220,000

Is GULC worth 43k more than GW? Yes.

Is GULC worth 263k? That is another story...

Neither of these schools is worth what you would be paying. Sorry bro, retake or go somewhere cheaper.

Let's assume you get BigLaw at Georgetown. Have you figured out how long it would take you to pay off that debt? Seven years?

Let's assume you don't get BigLaw at Georgetown. Have you figured out how long it would take you to pay off that debt? Fifteen years?

I agree with Bob Loblaw. Georgetown is worth $43,000 more than GWU. But it's not worth $263,000.

Why won't you have to pay interest on loans? You don't need any loans? Or you're getting interest-free loans from family?

GULC 1L. I love the school and it is worth way more, in my opinion, then 48,000 then GW but 263,000 is just too much. I'm nervous here and I will only have 60,000 in debt upon graduation. My friends who borrow the full fare are extremely nervous about getting a biglaw job at EIW. You have to think about how much debt 250K+ really is.
