Bumping this to say for what its worth, I think Ill be depositing this week at CLS but keeping my seat at Cal, which I can do until end of May, and staying on the WL at Stanford since the CA vs NYC debate is not entirely settled.
I really appreciated all of your comments, and those of you who discussed NYU made me think a lot harder about the decision. I was in new york over the weekend and visited both schools, talked to professors & current students, and did a ton more research. I kept jumping back and forth, and in the end they both provide very similar opportunities, but I think while at NYU i would meet more dynamic and engaged people, Columbia will go farther to support my particular goals. Anyone can PM me for details here.
Wrt housing, if I was to move to new york, my SO agreed we should live in CLS 1-bedroom housing my 1L year unless a cheap option in UWS presents itself.
