Fullerton shouldnt even be considered a 4 year, its like a glorified community college, people who go there only do so b/c 1) they want to live at home/have a job in the area or 2) they were to dumb to get into a good school.

I was thinking this exact same thing. The students at Fullerton all think they're really special for some reason. There's a big difference in attitude between Fullerton kids and the Cal Poly Pomona kids, despite the fact that the schools are within a 20 minute drive of one another.

I have some friends who go to Fullerton. One in particular tells me everyday how he feels like a failure because he wasn't able to go anywhere else. I feel bad he thinks that way, but he is doing extremely well now (which may in part be because of the competittion he faces). He will have a nicely padded GPA for PA school. Also, did anyone see that article saying the schools with the toughest grading scale/least grade inflation? It said CSUF had one of the toughest grading scales. Obviously that is skewed, but still made me raise an eyebrow.

I read that report too. So did the Fullerton kids. Then one of them started posting on facebook on how his school's the 2nd hardest in the nation. Behind Harvard.

I can't stand how obnoxious they are.

I challenge this.

1) salary features pretty low on most peoples' estimation of UG. its not like law school, which is all about jobs. Nationwide, random engineering schools would inevitably post higher earning figures even than Harvard and Yale, which is clearly bullshit. UG is more about educational & social experience and graduate school placement, the opportunities the school affords to you both inside and outside the classroom; people chose all sorts of jobs out of UG, many of them not particularly lucrative. You aren't going to tell me that a student with a Watson fellowship, even tho they are making less money out of school than a mediocre electrical engineer in stockton, gained less from their UG.

2) I'm sure this is self-reported, since these schools don't enforce data collection, and the career average figures must be total bogus cause such a small sample of students go back and report that when they are 50.

I mean look at this. Santa Clara over USC? WTF? California College of the Arts? Harvey Mudd over Stanford or Pomona? I protest.

There are so many factors that go into choosing the right school for UG. The stereotypes people assign the student bodies should be pretty low on that list.

Also, are people debating the relative prestige of CSUs? They're just CSUs, they aren't prestigious.

ETA: neither are UCs, aside from Berkeley and maybe UCLA.

I can't stand Davis though. Such insufferable hippies. Like, "look at how much better than everyone else we are because we ride bicycles and are growing ORGANIC vegetables. And look at our CO-OP we shop at!"

Facts are facts. I guess its just your biased perspective that you think so highly of the UCs...


and harvey mudd is so high because it basically is an all engineering school, santa clara is in the silicon valley, and california college of the arts is like the Yale law school for the arts.
