Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
If you want to work in Miami, you need to go to school in Florida. You will have much better chances at networking and a BC degree will not carry that far south. You shouldn't be considering BC unless you know you want to work in Boston and maybe NY.

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
You didn't say how much UM and BC cost and how you're paying for them. This is a tough situation because it is unlikely that you'd be able to get from BC to Miami after graduation but OTOH it seems like madness to pay as much for UM as you would for BC. How come you didn't get extra merit aid $$ from UM if you could get into BC? Also, would it be possible to live with family if you went to UF or UM to defray costs? If UF is cheaper (ideally less than, say, $75K including COL), choose that over UM. UM is a trap: an expensive school in a saturated market without that many legal jobs. UF is not placing too well as of late, a few percentage points less than UM in jobs for c/o 2012 although UF put more into big law and AIII clerkships, but at least UF doesn't cost 200K+. I think you should sign up for the June LSAT and see if you can up your score and squeeze some more merit aid out of UF or UM. If you can get the cost way down, they're okay choices. You still have a pretty big risk of not getting a legal job, though.
BTW, regarding this:
BTW, regarding this:
If you haven't been introduced to the helpful analogy, let me be the first: these types of pleas are like someone coming along and asking if he should cut off his arm or his leg, and when you try to talk him out of it, he tells you he is set on doing one of these two things even though no one is putting a gun to his head. We are going to try to talk you out of financially ruinous decisions, just like we would try to talk to that person about physically ruinous decisions. It has nothing to do with condescension.(Those of you who got into HYS and 99% LSAT's please don't use this as an opportunity to speak condescendingly and advise a retake and wait a year. If you have genuine, please give me your thoughts)

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
Sounds like you really want to be in FL but are worried about job prospects. If possible, try to negotiate with the offers you have for more money out of UF/UM and minimize that risk as much as possible. If you can get those schools down to say 60k total cost I would think it makes sense as you want to stay in FL market. While BC is a great school, if its gonna have an affect in fl market you would probably have to be top 10% which may be more difficult than at UF/UM. Another consideration is how open you are to working out of FL. If that's a serious consideration than maybe BC makes more sense, but take into account that once you get a good job in another market (Boston), there's a high chance you're not going to go back to FL.

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
Neither. Both schools are too expensive. BC won't get you what you want and Miami definitely isn't worth it at that price.
Retake and go to a Florida school on a full ride or a T14. I believe Duke's most recent class did quite well in Florida, I think that should be one of your targets. Maybe Vandy on a big scholarship?
And before you tell me I didn't read the whole thread and ignored what you said- I read every word of it and despite your laziness retaking the LSAT is the only proper course of action.

It's already been pointed out, but if you want to work in Florida, don't go to BC.
It's a higher ranked school, but that won't matter in Florida. Go to school in Florida.

Does this mean that you'd have to be in the top 10% at UM to get the kind of jobs you want in Miami/Florida?joeant wrote: But, most years, top 10% at UM and UF get the biglaw jobs down here.
If so, then BC. It will give you a wider margin for error as far as your class ranking. Granted you'll still have to be in the top half at least, probably top third, but going to a school where you HAVE to be in the Top 10% for desirable outcomes sounds really risky..
(I'm assuming the costs are the same or very comparable.)

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
I'll never understand this. If you did so well on your PTs, why not redeem yourself by retaking? Why not make all that time studying worth it?joeant wrote: I did very well on my pt's and it just didn't translate on test day, but I am still very happy with how I did and will not re-take.
But for the sake of actually answering your question, go to where you want to practice (which sounds like Florida).

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
The first question that should be asked of the OP: What are your ties?
Since you want to go to a regional school, this is of paramount importance.
Also, looking ITT, none of the Florida schools are worth 100k in debt, unless your ties are heavy, and you think you would be okay with small law, local PI stuff.
Also, FYI, BC ain't getting you back to Florida. You can forget it.
If you want Boston, then BC for 100k is still too much, but not worse than UM or UF.

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
Just fyi, I've lived in gville before, and you can easily get by on under 15k.joeant wrote:Total cost - UM/BC- 60 in tuition, 30 in living, 10 misc.; UF - 45 in tuition, 25 in living, 10 misc.untar614 wrote:how much if u went to UF?joeant wrote:100k at UM or BCLord Randolph McDuff wrote:How much debt will you be in?
That plus lower tuition, higher ranked and u having ties to fl makes uf the better choice. BC's employment still isnt stellar, and you'll face much more competition from better schools.
But what are your gpa/lsat? There's a reason retake is the common answer. It may help you a lot depending on the situation. If you could get into vandy with some money perhaps or get more money at UF, that would be a better option.

I can't imagine spending $25k / year in Gainesville. Are you planning on renting a 4 bedroom apartment to yourself and eating kobe beef as a snack?joeant wrote:Total cost - UM/BC- 60 in tuition, 30 in living, 10 misc.; UF - 45 in tuition, 25 in living, 10 misc.untar614 wrote:how much if u went to UF?joeant wrote:100k at UM or BCLord Randolph McDuff wrote:How much debt will you be in?

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
I did get a 99% LSAT, but didn't get into HYS, so I guess I'm allowed to say retake and wait a year. I also went through the whole "Done with the LSAT, chapter closed" phase, and now realize how ridiculous it was. I ended up raising my score 12 points. Don't throw away your time and money and career on BC.joeant wrote:Those of you who got into HYS and 99% LSAT's please don't use this as an opportunity to speak condescendingly and advise a retake and wait a year.

Re: t30 or best regional school (money will be equal)
Oh, lol. then those estimates are too low. 10k/yr in gville is doable if you budget well. No way you get by on 10k/yr in Miami or Boston. In boston you'll prob spend at least that just on rent.joeant wrote:Dude those are totals. 25 over 3 yearsnebula666 wrote:joeant wrote:I can't imagine spending $25k / year in Gainesville.
