Which would you choose?

Post by sergiokun16 » Fri Mar 08, 2013 10:41 am

I've basically narrowed my decision to one of these four schools. I want to remain in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region, and I'd be very happy working in any of these cities/states after law school. I am still awaiting scholly info for a couple of these schools, but I'm just looking for opinions at first impression from you trusted TLS'ers. Thanks.

Hard to say without scholly info. That will make or break this decison, IMO.

What are your numbers? What are you looking to do with your law degree?

I'd go for Yale in this situation. Even if you did get the full ride at NYU or Columbia, I think your goals outweigh the potential benefit of being debt-free when you graduate.

158/3.73. I'm heavily considering taking a year off to retake (before everyone starts screaming it hahaha), but if I were to attend in the fall, I was just interested in some input. As far as plans afterwards, BigLaw would be ideal but it's not a "do or die" goal. I also greatly enjoy policy/politics, so that is a route that I am giving a good deal of consideration too. As far as schollies go, UConn would be at sticker, Pitt would be "near sticker," and I was literally just accepted to BLS and Maryland within the past week, so I'm waiting to see if I get money from them. Aside from retaking, which feels like the best option, which would you choose given if you were to make a decision here? Thanks in advance for input.

The only decent option is retake

If you're set on going to law school in the fall, go UMD. It's in Baltimore, close to Annapolis, and respected in MD.

Otherwise I say retake until you can get either a decent scholly at those schools or a school that's higher ranked. You have a good gpa. I don't think you should waste it

Don't waste that GPA by paying money for those schools. Retake.

+1. PLEASE retake. You would have significantly better options with a 165+.

All are terrible, potentially life-ruining options. Retake.
