They will be below UC Davis. They lack an alumni base. 20, 30 years from now, they might be higher, but they need alumni.99.9luft wrote:i mean CA LS rankings, kiddo...not sure what you'rePresidentjlh wrote:Child please, UCI is jumping Yale.99.9luft wrote:

Re: 2014 Rankings Waiting Thread
where in the ranking equation is the alumni base and how much is it weighed? i thought the reputation, clerking, jobs, LSAT/GPA medians, faculty ratio, etc. are more important...but I may not remember the formula well enough.Presidentjlh wrote:They will be below UC Davis. Re: 2014 Rankings Waiting Thread
I know UCI has decent LSAT/GPA medians, but, how much reputation can a school started in 2009 really have? Also, there's no jobs as of yet, as far as I know, since I think the first class graduates this year. Lots of unknowns.99.9luft wrote: where in the ranking equation is the alumni base and how much is it weighed? i thought the reputation, clerking, jobs, LSAT/GPA medians, faculty ratio, etc. are more important...but I may not remember the formula well enough.
I was mostly just poking fun. UCI could be a decent law school in the future. Right now, I'm too hesitant. I say it starts upper TT, maybe.

Re: 2014 Rankings Waiting Thread
I am not saying it's wrong, but when I went to US News, they have the top three listed for the 2013 rankings as 1 Yale 2 Stanford 3 Harvard. So either this information is inaccurate or US News has yet to update their website.Headybrah wrote:top 25 here

Re: 2014 Rankings Waiting Thread
Don't remember how much the medians are weighed in the ranking formula but check our Davis's and UCI's medians.
UCD: 160/165 3.38/3.71
UCI: 162/167 3.29/3.68
AND the medians for the class entering this fall are higher (source: UCI admissions staff) than the ones for last year's class
AND the medians for next year's class will most likely be (Chem hinted at this, IIRC) even higher (since that class will count for the 2015 rankings)
I highly doubt that UCD's huge class size, shitty job placement, and an alumni base will end up playing a more important role in next year's rankings, thereby placing UCD higher than UCI.

Re: 2014 Rankings Waiting Thread
You are looking at last year's rankings. The "2013" rankings were compiled in 2012 (if you click into the rankings, it clearly says "ranked in 2012"). They have not yet put the new rankings on the US News site. The rankings about to come out tonight are the 2014 rankings.Redfactor wrote:I am not saying it's wrong, but when I went to US News, they have the top three listed for the 2013 rankings as 1 Yale 2 Stanford 3 Harvard.
