Best Law School for Practice in Tampa

Postby lawin813 » Mon Feb 11, 2013 10:20 pm

What's the best regional school for practicing in Tampa?
I know Stetson is always an option, but I would prefer to have a more marketable degree from UF or FSU or even FIU. I know according to the rankings that UF and FSU are really competitive, but which one is best for Tampa? or does it even matter? and should I even consider FIU?

UF or FSU. UF is slightly better for private practice. Don't go to anywhere else in Florida without a full ride.

Fixed, but otherwise credited. Do not go to Stetson without a full-ride, and don't touch the TTTTs down there.

Do you have ties to Tampa?

What's your GPA? If you have >75 GPA, study for the LSAT, get >158. Going to stetson for free is your best bet if you want to practice in Tampa and no place else.

Otherwise if you have your heart set on FL, prefer but are not married to Tampa, go to UF if you lean more toward private practice and FSU if you lean more toward public service.

What are your numbers?

If you have ties, Yale. If you don't have ties, nowhere.

I concur with UF/FSU or Vandy/Emory w/scholly, even thou I will be attending Stetson.

edit: attending UF/FSU w/o ties is not a complete deterrent since either way they have plenty of alumni in Tampa.

Take an hour and scan the various Tampa law firms and find out what schools are highly represented.

Don't, because the hiring picture looks much different now.

What Romo said is basically TCR.

Stetson is pretty well respected in Tampa. Very high tuition.
Not a bad option if you get a discount and want to stay in Tampa.

Stetson has horrible job prospects and insanely high tuition.

It's been around forever so people think it's a good option.
