This is one way to admit people

Postby CR2012 » Fri Jan 18, 2013 12:08 pm

Dear CR2012,

Still looking for the right law school? Join us on Monday, February 18, 2013, in person or by Skype, for the Earle Mack School of Law’s Decision Day. On Decision Day, you’ll have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an admissions counselor to present your application. Before you leave, we’ll let you know your decision, including a potential scholarship offer. Coupled with our no-fee application, it’s a great chance for you to get to know us and to get a decision immediately.

Two simple steps to sign up:

First, complete an application by Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Second, register for the Earle Mack School of Law’s Decision Day by emailing us at lawadmissions@drexel.edu.
As an added bonus, we are offering a complimentary one night hotel stay for Sunday, February 17th to make this campus visit more convenient for you.

Plus, Earle Mack has a special offer for admitted students this year. We will cover the cost of your first year’s books if you enroll after attending one of the designated on-campus events.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

See you on Decision Day!

Sincerely,

Issa

Isabel "Issa" DiSciullo
Assistant Dean for Admissions

PS. You are not required to commit on Decision Day. You will have the same April 15th matriculation deadline as our other applicants.

OH MY GOD! They are messaging you on TLS?

That's Drexel. I'd go, if you're in the area. Last year they put admitted students up in a hotel for a couple of nights and gave you free beer and food. It's a good deal!

Get some of dat IBR juice...

edit: apparently, after reading the letter, they dropped it down to one night. Well, this is for the "admissions meeting." Maybe they'll keep up with the two-day deal for the "admitted students" event.

Nah, it was an e-mail. I got it too. I would go if I lived in the area, I like staying at hotels.

Oh, sorry...confusion. When the OP replaced his username for his name in the email...

..well anyway. TL;DR: nice hotel.

This will turn SUPER AWKWARD really fast when people with terrible numbers take them up on it.

Haha, oops. I tried to be cool by putting it in a quote.

Oh man, imagine if they were PMing people on TLS.

This is still a sublime level of absurdity imo.

Drexel does have higher medians than a few schools in the Top 100 but yeah this is pretty pathetic.

I emailed them back asking if they would be putting us up at the Four Seasons. Beyond blatantly solicitous (in a friend's word, like a timeshare email), it's a little bit late to be doing this.

This is insane. So much for even the pretense of holistic admissions.

Let us know if they are, that might be worth the 21 dollar reporting fee. Been looking for a little travel anyway

Those dudes e-mail me every week and I don't even live anywhere near there. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

Not to mention that cost of airfare to this thing easily overrides any savings from a night in a cheap hotel. I can't figure this one out at all.

Any chance I could pretend to be a prospective student? Seems like a credited way to get free booze and a place to crash for the night.

You can't play hard to get if you're already hard to want.

It's hilarious how much advertising TTTs do compared to T-14s or even T-30s... I've literally received 7 emails (had to dig through my trash folder to find them) and probably 3 or 4 mailers from Concordia Law School. Their sporadic acts of desperation make me LOL.

Their undergrad is pretty well respected in the region, mainly because of their coop program for engineering students.
