Best D2 law school with football

Post by nosleeptillsuccess » Fri Oct 19, 2012 8:17 pm

I just turned 24 and graduated with a BA in finance.

Taking the LSAT in December and want to play football and attend law school.

Now that I have time and I do not have to work I can follow my dreams.

Obviously my eligibility clock is out for any division 1 schools, but does anyone know of any D2 schools that have great law schools/football programs?? Any state as long as it's good.

I live in Florida and was interested in NOVA, however they do not have a football team :(

Any help would be awesome

This may be the worst way to pick a law school in history.

Oh and forgot to mention - no negative feedback please and thank you.

Btw in response to your smart ass comment:

Too bad you're quick to "assume". How do you not know that I'm already guaranteed a job so going to a better law school means nothing to me but a waste of money?

Come on ... you're a trying to be a lawyer. Think before you write.

If you're literally guaranteed a job paying over 100K, go to like Pepperdine maybe.

Otherwise, pick a law school because it's good, because if you don't have a guaranteed job, you don't have time to study 1L and play football.

I don't think there are any law schools in Sanctuary.

This. You get an extra year if you switch sports (at least you did when I was in school), but division doesn't matter. NCAA is NCAA.

1. Kalvano made that assumption because the vast majority of people do not have a guaranteed job lined up for after graduation before starting law school. It's typically a pretty safe assumption to make. Also consider that this is an online forum, not a legal proceeding...people are not going to qualify every single thing they say to make sure they take into account all the far-fetched possibilities.

2. You never actually state you have a guaranteed job lined up for after you graduate. Do you? If you do, my advice would be to focus on limiting your debt as much as possible.

If he didn't play sports while in undergrad he would be eligible.

Stop giving wrong info - your clock of 5 years to complete 4 seasons starts as soon as you step on Campus as a freshman regardless.

I can't believe I just wasted time looking this up, but I found something stating that in D2 they actually count semesters completed for eligibility as opposed to using five calendar years like in D1.

So, if OP completed UG in 4 years, he would be able to play football for one year; two years if he graduated in three; and he would not be able to play if it took him five years.

The idea seems pretty idiotic, but, knock yourself out OP.

Well the best FCS (formerly D2) law school/football team combination is Harvard I think they only lost 1 game last year and are unbeaten this year. Although if you're looking at Nova you are probably not looking at the Harvard range. Villanova has a good football team and a law school. Also New Hampshire has a good football team and they also have a law school. Not trying to endorse these schools and tell you they are a good investment. I just wanted to answer your question.

The Ivy League doesn't allow athletes to redshirt. I doubt they would allow a law student to compete either.

I was mistaken. Guess there's always the NFL.

You're right. Graduates can only play club or intramural level.

You would have to play at the NAIA level..I think. The other possibility is Canada. What Toronto, UBC, and McGill have great law schools, but I know nothing about their football teams - if they even have them. Too lazy to research it.
