LOL just LOL. You can't make this up. Median LSAT of 138? Whopping 869 1Ls in 2010, down to 246 in 2011? Literally only 3 graduates working as attorneys from the class of 2012? Who is actually choosing to go here?

The crucial question is how does Indiana Tech stack up against the best law school in the country--Cooley?

[Note: I would like to point out that Cooley single-handedly dominated YHS in 20 of the 40 factors, it is by far the BEST law school in the country!]

I wish Prof. pond scummings would provide a cite for the Cornel West quote. The only hits I get online for this quote are things pond scummings has written about himself.

andré douglas pond scummings wrote:According to renowned public intellectual Dr. Cornel West, Professor cummings [sic] scholarly "reputation goes far beyond . . . the nation, and is heard in every corner of the globe, wrestling with legacies of legal thinking on one hand and popular culture on the other."

With an estimated cost of attendance at $48,160/year, and assuming no increase over three years (I know, LOL, but I am feeling lazy tonight...), we have $144,480 for three years. Does anyone know what the PAYE payments would be when working as a morning shift barista at a Starbucks. It is probably worth stoping to figure out what impact getting promoted to shift supervisor at about 8-10 years into this career path...

Kool-Aid at graduation would be doing them a favor, considering the debt they're taking on to not get a job.

Assuming 3% tuition increases per year and an (impossibly low) 4% interest rate per year, I got the total to be $160,692 (actually quite a bit lower than my COA, maybe I should transfer). At IN's $7.25/hr minimum wage, it will take these students 22,201.75 hours to pay down their principal. I don't know how PAYE works but I'm guessing at minimum wage it's not realistic to ever finish paying off your student loans.

At 160,692 in debt. making 20,000/year, your PAYE payment would be $23/month. Although if you take that shift supervisor slot down the road ($28,000/year), you are looking at at a PAYE payment of $90/month.

Good Lord, this "oath" goes on and on...

"We shall go to bed at a reasonable hour, we shall maintain insurance on our personal automobiles, we shall not lie to the dentist about flossing regularly..."

Well, the students did write it themselves - --LinkRemoved--

"Law School Dean Peter C. Alexander said the Oath Ceremony is one of the most important innovations in Tech’s law program.

'It reflects an earnest decision by the students to become not only lawyers, but also great examples of professionalism and ethics'"

I honestly don't know if I feel sorry for these students or not. They've clearly made a horrible decision and are being misled by boomer deans, but really, the information is all out there. How can someone do so little research before investing six figures?

Well now that employers know students took this oath, they'll be recruiting in droves.

Because people are people, which means they're prone to optimism bias and confirmation bias. And because some people have a lot less cultural capital than others, which means they're more likely to trust the Peter Alexanders of the world without investigating whether what he's saying has any basis in reality. (Indeed if I had to bet on it, I would wager that one of the people being taken in by Alexander's spiel is Peter Alexander himself).

In regard to the comments in this thread generally, a little more compassion for people who lack the sophistication to realize much of the world is run by sanctimonious phonies wouldn't hurt.

Dean Alexander definitely uses such lack of "compassion" as means to attack the message. Of course I do love how he blithely dismisses his critics as people "who do not have all the facts and have not done their homework".

Alexander:
"The second thing is you have to have a thick skin. There are people in the blogosphere who are vicious with their comments. It allows them to be anonymous and it shows the darker side of our profession. I use them as Exhibit A for the need for more professionalism and ethics training. There’s no doubt that it’s hurtful to read things that suggest the faculty members are just trying to steal student’s money and that the school has no soul. In one case, we had a blogger who took off after one of our students and commented about the student for making this choice. You just have to have a thick skin because, unfortunately, there are people out there who do not have all the facts and have not done their homework but have very strong opinions".
