Top Law Schools

Is it worth sending out an app to them if you don't have any work experience? At the Law School Forum, I was told that 97% of their applicants have at least one year of work experience. I have a lot of volunteer experience, research experience and internships but no work experience.

They say on their website specifically "post-graduate, full-time work experience," so unless your numbers warrant you being in the 3% without work experience, probably not.

OP: Your prior posts indicate that you are an African-American female. If accurate, then apply to every law school among the top 14 which is of interest to you.

Yes, that would be a game changer.

I know this is anecdotal and I can't speak to overall percentages, but when I was at the admitted students weekend a couple months ago I met a lot of K-JD admits. They have a new dean and they may not be emphasizing work experience as much as in the past.

I don't know if they're still doing this, but previously they have offerred full ride scholarships to some applicants without enough work experience on the condition that they defer a year and work basically anywhere. I would apply just to see what happens.

Yeah, I know they did this last year, and I believe I read that a couple of people got it this year too. OP's numbers are good enough that it's worth trying (especially if they give a fee waiver).

they def did it in the 2011-2012 cycle i got one.

Always worth sending out an app- maybe youll get a fee waiver

I would apply to Duke and Cornell, but if you really like NU, then definitely apply. What can you lose from applying, after all?
