Yeshiva's spring starts also get screwed in OCI a friend of mine did it and did not realize that EIW happens before his second semester grades came in so he went into interviews with only 4 grades

True, but not many reputable schools have spring starts so this is largely a moot point. Mich has the summer start, which can be great for certain people.
So does Duke. Only for dual degrees though.
