Please help me choose!
Hey guys,
I just got off the wait list for AU, and here are my thoughts:
American:
-in DC, lots of opportunities
-tons of programs/clinics/study abroad
-I'm from VA, so more connections
-about $100K in debt
-fun city!
-big classes, lots of competition
-totally impersonal
Kentucky:
-small, insular legal market
-better employment stats
-little to no debt
-want to work in VA, so not close
-not in a big city, not many connections/opportunities
-small classes, extremely personalized

Re: Please help me choose!
You're not from Kentucky? That would make it harder to find work, but going to American makes it very unlikely that you'd get a legal job in DC.
Why did you pick UK in the first place? Did you have other options?

Retake or Kentucky. American is just too expensive.

Are you still on the Richmond waitlist ?
Between American with $100,000 debt & Kentucky with no debt, Kentucky is the better choice.

Retake and reapply to UVA/Richmond/GM/W&L/W&M.
American has terrible prospects.
Kentucky is not good for VA. UVA >>> Richmond/GM/W&L/W&M >>> Kentucky (for VA)

Don't go to American. If you have ties to Kentucky and want to stay there, UK may not be unreasonable.

Neither of these are good options. Retake and reapply for William and Mary, George Mason, George Washington, Washington & Lee, etc.
Kentucky makes no sense if you want to practice in VA and American isn't worth 100k in debt. Negotiate more money from American or wait it out a year.

Let me put it this way: A faculty member at American told me not to go there.

Retake yes, ED maybe not. I think with apps being down and money being up, ED may not be a great idea.Nova wrote:Retake, ED UVA.

OP, just know that ranking doesn't matter all that much, if these two are your only choices, go with Kentucky

OP, I hate to say it, but TITCr. Both schools have terrible job prospects for VA. The only one of these worth going to is Kentucky, and that's with a big scholarship and ties to the market. Retake or don't go.rad lulz wrote:From VA and want to work in VA? Neither.

Re: Please help me choose!
ok. Rankings objectively correlate to job prospects (with exceptions), especially in reference to schools outside of target secondary markets, and when you're talking about middling schools that DO NOT PLACE into the target market, neither of them is a good decision.Jah'rakal wrote:aww u mad bro, when u can't come up with reasons, u just hateromothesavior wrote:You continue to suck.
