i was under the impression NC is a upcoming state with many legal jobs to come , is it not true? plus UNC places what, 2nd best in the state?jstr00az wrote:UNC... but understand that:
1. UNC is having terrible trouble placing people in jobs. Very very high underemployment rates in the past 3 years.
2. North Carolina has a weak legal market especially given the number of law schools.
3. Do not go to UNC for full price. You will have more than $125k in debt, and I suspect very difficult time finding jobs.
The legal market in NC is tiny and depressed. I'm not sure what constitutes "best," but Duke doesnt send too many grads to NC firms.Jah'rakal wrote:i was under the impression NC is a upcoming state with many legal jobs to come , is it not true? plus UNC places what, 2nd best in the state?jstr00az wrote:UNC... but understand that:

Duke is too busy sending them to DC.moandersen wrote:The legal market in NC is tiny and depressed. Answers to these questions would still be helpful, but UNC definitely is the better of the two. I agree with the above that I wouldn't expect much though. Would not attend without significant money.JD Janitor wrote:Where are you from?

If Op has to choose. it's not binary. Unless he is instate and/or there is substantial $$$ I'd retake.Teflon_Jeff wrote:UNC, for sure.
Pretty much this. Everyone is saying UNC, but it doesn't sound like OP has substantial money, and it doesn't sound like he has ties there. It's not either/or, people. The best option may be neither one of the two.top30man wrote:If Op has to choose. it's not binary. Unless he is instate and/or there is substantial $$$ I'd retake.Teflon_Jeff wrote:UNC, for sure.
OP, while I said UNC was indisputably the best choice between the two, I failed to mention that it isn't a great choice in general when the potential debt load is taken into account. In state tuition is quite good. If you can graduate from UNC for cheap, you can probably come out fairly well. But if you're paying full freight and depending on biglaw, you're basically taking a gamble with long odds, 3:1 is generous and 10:1 is more realistic.romothesavior wrote:Pretty much this.
