Since I am not asking about my chances but about deciding between options I believe this is the right forum. If I'm wrong mods please move.

Also, any comments from anyone on why you would choose one option over the other?
You're not deciding between options. As of right now you have no options, and you won't have any until you apply and get some acceptances. TLS doesn't like hypotheticals.

ED seems like a really bad idea these days. Even people in off waitlists are getting scholarships across the board. Don't limit yourself.

I'm making this decision this year, or close to it. Had 14K + in-state at UF, but am going to UVA with COL help from family. Sticker would be tough, but if I were young, I would pay it. Maybe not G-Town. Problem with UF is that you have a lower chance of getting *any* legit law job than you do of getting a six-figure salary out of 7-13.

I would second the non-ED advice. If you have time to improve the LSAT, make the investment.

Again, I will most likely be applying ED. If I do that and am accepted then there will be no decision to make. A thread asking if sticker T14 is the better option would be useless after an ED admission. Which is exactly why I am asking before I apply.
Just ED to NU and get a full ride brah

Hey there, I figured I would offer some advice that should really color your decision should you be accepted as you assume you will be. First, you mention that you would like to work in biglaw OR at the SAO. This should dictate where you go. If you want to work in Biglaw go ahead and go for a t14 - should you incur debt your schools reputation should assist you in getting a well paid job so you can pay those loans back. BUT if you want to work for the SAO please do yourself a favor and go to UF. Why do I say this? I work at the SAO in Miami and our attorneys make approximately $34k prior to passing the bar and $40k after bar passage. The benefits are nice and you wont work 60+ hours, but seriously consider having that salary with mountains of debt. Feel free to message me if you want more info. Godspeed

Either full ride at UF, or whatever you get at T14. Don't take on any debt from UF if you can at all help it.

Better question: why are you applying to UF over FSU? FSU is a few thousand cheaper and has better employed after graduation statistics. If your only reason is USNews you should definitely reconsider. UF is no longer the top law school in Florida - plus employment is kindof a big deal

Egregious Florida State trolling. UF has a better name and broader alumni base than FSU for everything but state government work.

But that probably doesn't even matter. If you can't get your numbers to the T14 w/ money category, I would still take UVA or Duke at sticker over Florida for free.

I was talking to a UF 3L, probably in April, and asked her if I knew what she was doing when she graduated. She laughed at me, because apparently that wasn't a thing at UF. Granted this was a c/o 2011, but employment out of Florida schools is really bad. Kids from top schools are coming back to Florida and taking all the jerbs. You're better off being one of them.

The gamble is that if you do strike out, you'll be mountains in debt. But your chances of getting a job and paying it off are greater than your chances of being meaningfully employed at any salary out of UF.

It might be trolling if it weren't true. Granted neither of these stats are great, but I would still feel better if barely over half of my class actually had full time legal employment nine months after graduation.

Florida State Employed Nine Months After Graduation - 69.53%
University of Florida Employed Nine Months After Graduation - 59.41%

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... 58142.html

.....so about that great alumni base....

As far as salary is concerned, even if you are not paying ANY student loans (undergraduate or graduate) try living in Miami on $40k a year. You will NOT be comfortable. I make almost this at the SAO now and have no student loans, no car payment, and its still tight. If you are not in Miami the pay will be lower as obviously the cost of living will be lower. Think about this before you commit to a law school or public interest. Many of our attorneys are struggling significantly with their debt loads, and loan repayment assistance is not always rosy.

All this said - IF you want to work for the SAO go to in-state for as free as you can. If you want biglaw go for t14
