Cardozo$ v. Emory

Post by john1990 » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:52 pm

I have seen Lawschooltransparency which shows a fairly impressive distribution for the class of 2009 and 2008. however, in 2010 Emory's big law placement was hurt by the recession and it saw nlj250 placement drop from its usual 20% to 12%. How would this likely affect the salaries of their graduates? Wouldn't it be surprising if the salaries weren't much lower?
Based on what little info is currently available on LST i can see that Emory has a surprising 71% FT legal rate, and 27% large firm score.
Cardozo on the other hand was unaffected by the recession and had about 12% in the NLJ 250 in 2009-2011. Emory became only marginally better in the NLJ. however, in 2010 LST has Cardozo at 20% large firm score and 65% FT legal rate.

The difference appears to be the 7% in large firms which aren't included in the NLJ250.

Salary response rate is also higher for Emory as well as federal clerkships. I would like to know more about how the class of 2010 and 2011 have faired. Dozo has offered me $$$ and Emory has not, but i am concerned with the LT.

- i don't like the cold and the idea of living in a city like Atlanta is appealing. I could be happy either way. the hype around NYC and the entertainment are appealing, so its a wash

This entirely depends on your total cost of attendance at each one. How much over a three year period will you be in debt?

Dozo is the only possible answer here unless you get significant money from Emory.
