Notre Dame vs. OSU
Originally from Cleveland. I have instate with OSU and 11k/yr. Notre Dame is offering 10k/yr so yearly tuition comparison is about 16 vs 36. I don't have any pre-exisiting debt or financial obligations. I want to practice big law and wouldn't mind returning to Cleveland. I know this is a big difference but I'm leaning towards Notre Dame for better chances in big law and the fact that if I need to relocate Notre Dame will probably help me to find work in more markets than OSU. Am I crazy for taking on so much more money? Any other opinions on each school would be extremely helpful!

What's your GPA/LSAT? ND is placing about 20% into biglaw which doesn't justify the total cost of attendance jump.
Neither of these schools are great for your goals.

166/3.3 I understand but these are the best options I had available to me. Obviously anyone outside of t14 trying to go into big law is not going to a school great for their goals

You're looking at 36K a year from ND. Tack on 15K (conservative) estimate for living expenses. With interest, you're looking at 178K worth of debt.
Take OSU if you must go, at least it's cheap. ND at that price is terrifying.

Go to osu. You have ties and it's the best in the state.

ND carries decently back to Cleveland, and I can't speak to Ohio St.'s placement back to Cleveland, but if ND can and you have ties to the area, I would assume Ohio St places well in your situation. I'm not sure the money differential is worth going to ND.
FWIW I came down to the same decision roughly, except the money was close enough that it was more of a feel thing. I liked ND better, but OSU is quality and its the best in the state and everyone in Ohio knows it.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to write ND explaining that I'd much rather attend there but there is a stark difference between my total cost of attendance and try (probably to no avail) to get a little more $$$. I'll let you know if they come back with anything and see if that changes anyones opinions
