Columbia (sticker) vs. UCLA (full ride)

Post by jhyt » Tue Apr 24, 2012 6:58 pm

I am from New York, but I wouldn't mind practicing in LA for a few years before moving back to the tri-state area. I am interested in Big Law. Any thoughts?

Go to UCLA and if after your first year you're not in the top third of the class drop out.

UCLA odds are you won't get Big Law (still a 1 in 3 chance though). However, I think it's too impossible to turn down a full ride at a Top 18 school like UCLA. Take the money and run.

Why is there no in between here? Full ride at UCLA should be good for money at the lower T14....

Take the money and run in this case. A full ride to UCLA is not something to turn down. Congrats on such a great offer!

had this exact decision. Chose Columbia. Just got back from a session where they disclosed last year's EIP numbers. This is just one of the many reasons I feel that I made the wise decision. Also think UCLA is a fine choice here, so go with gut feeling

You remember those EIP numbers off the top of your head? I'm curious, because I'm deciding between Columbia and another school right now.
