Play a fun game with the data.

Find the Tier 1 schools that placed fewer students in biglaw (501+ member firms) than John Marshall law school (tier 4 school).

Hint: there are several.

st.johns has equal placement (in almost every industry; especially in the ones that matter) any way you cut it, compared to brooklyn.
yeshiva has a 4-5% edge in biglaw/academia placement than those two.

interesting.

Thomas M Cooley law school: 4/927 got biglaw. I'd like to meet those four. It is like American Idol over there.

What does government employment include? There is a category for government which seems different than the federal and state and local categories.

Good point, i was noticing that some schools that are less than reputable have a lot in the 51-100 category, I"ll remove that and include only 101+ schools as "biglaw".

Also, just checked Google docs. They don't have custom formulas in pivot tables functionality, which I would need...

Ave Maria's unemployed-and-seeking rate of 24/84 (28.5%+) puts Cooley to shame. Although, Cooley is missing a huge chunk of their grads in their report...

I made a google spreadsheet with the following percentages:

% of Firm 51+ and Fed Clerk

% of Firm 101+ and Fed Clerk

% of Firm 251+ and Fed Clerk

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub ... utput=html

All of them are using only long term positions. Also, I divided them by total graduates.

Are you sure the stats for Texas Southern and Texas Weslayan are accurate? Because if so, OUCH.

 But it wouldn't be TLS if people weren't freaking out over one year fluctuations in placement statistics. Small sample size be damned!

I combined long term employment for the stated categories. Also, I disregarded people not looking for employment and higher degrees. I would imagine that someone pursuing a higher degree from stanford is just fine, but someone pursuing a higher degree from somewhere run of the mill is probably just as screwed as those that are unemployed.

It's still pretty incredible that they did so well in 2010. 2011 was shit for everyone pretty much.

Also, six 2010 Cornell grads were working in law school funded jobs in February 2011. This February 26 2011 grads were working in such jobs, i.e., 13% of the class.

Ok, I added 501+Fed.

Employment Data Percentages

Added tabs for California, New York, DC and Philly

I'm sure I am missing schools because I relied on ctrl + f and the TLS top 100 + tier3/4 lists and not all the state abbreviations are on that list.
