GULC, GW, or W&M

Postby Althuss » Wed Mar 28, 2012 1:54 pm

I'm interested in public interest law or working for the government. I'd prefer to stay around DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

GULC's LRAP could mean that I pay next to nothing on my student loans, assuming I work for the government or a public interest organization for ten years. I suppose my only fear is getting a qualifying job, but it seems more likely coming from GULC than from my other options.

William and Mary offered me a fellowship, giving me instate tuition and a 4k stipend. But their career statistics place only 60% of students in Bar required jobs. LRAP will only cover a max of 15k over three years.

GW gave me 25k a year, but I they're LRAP is much less forgiving than GULC's and requires representing indigent populations.

I go to GW.

Go to GULC. Better building. Opens more doors down the road. Think long-term and GULC wins easily.

What are your numbers? GULC at sticker is a very risky proposition, but your other options are even less attractive. Retaking and reapplying might give you better choices.

170, 3.72.

Is retaking the best option? I studied pretty diligently for the LSAT, but only took about 6 practice tests under test conditions.

Hm. Tough spot with the 170 but I would think with those numbers you would have gotten one of MVPDNC to bite, maybe with some $. You should negotiate with GULC though they're known to be stingy.

Probably credited if OP is ok with sticker anyway.
