UGA or Vanderbilt
I'm torn. I've been accepted at both with $90,000 at Vanderbilt and $22,500 at UGA (with in-state tuition). I'm from Atlanta and went to UGA for undergrad, and even though I am more than ready to get out of Athens, I'm also trying to be careful about how much debt I take on. When you factor in cost of living, books, fees, etc. for all three years, it basically comes down to whether or not Vandy is worth an extra ~$30,000.
As far as what I want to do post graduation, I'm definitely leaning towards going into the private sector. For now, I see myself coming back to Atlanta, but I like the fact that Vanderbilt does have a bigger reach and won't confine me to Georgia, which would give me more options. Thoughts?

Dawg you got $90k from Vanderbilt, you are considering going back to ATL (Vanderbilt does better with large firms for the few positions that are left), AND you maybe want some geographic reach (though I'd add the caveat that it's hard to break into non NYC/DC markets without ties)???
UGA is the WRONG choice for you brah

Two good options, in my opinion, but Vanderbilt is the better option if you are "ready to get out of Athens". Did you apply to Virginia ?

Vanderbilt doubles your chances of getting a job that doesn't suck and has good lay prestige.
UGA leaves you with a very likely chance of doing DUI defense in Warner-Robbins.

OP wants private practiceRodneyBoonfield wrote:Career goals?
Basically unless OP wants his practice to be a DUI firm in Warner Robbins (in which case UGA is a better choice), you go to Vanderbilt.

Just wondering here-
Say OP doesn't want big law, but rather government/PI/small law. Why wouldn't paying a total of 20-25k at UGA + col be the obvious choice over paying probably 1.5-2x that (factoring in tuish + col) at Vandy? Does Vandy place that much better in those three fields that I listed and does UGA really place that poorly?
I know OP wants private p, but just entertain my hypo..
