Wisconsin vs Depaul (75k)/St. Johns full Scholarship

Postby BB28 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 10:32 am

Im not too sure if or how much scholarship money I will get from UW but I have received a full scholarship from St.Johns and a 75k from depaul. I eventually want to end up in Chicago or NYC, but I am open to going elsewhere if it means getting a job. Just wondering if I dont get a scholly from UW, would it be worth attending at sticker or near sticker, am I just paying for the higher rank? I also threw a few last min apps to BC and BU.

To my knowledge, I don't think Wisconsin does that well in Chicago.

If you really want NY/Chicago, go St. Johns. Do you have any better offers at NY schools?

What is the total COA for each law school ?

P.S. One consideration is that DePaul allows easy access to internship/externship opportunities in Chicago.

Depauls COA is around 65k, i believe St Johns would be just about 20k for living expenses, Wisconsins is 56k. I applied to Cardozo but I have not heard back from them yet, my app is still in review.

I also got into Kent and Loyola in Chicago but they did not give me the same scholarship money that Depaul gave me. 18k and 12k respectively. COA is about the same for Depauls for these two schools.

don't go to wisconsin if you want to work outside wisconsin. i posted detailed employment outcomes for nyc/chicago biglaw in the wisconsin v. fordham thread - http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 1&t=179801

also please don't pay out of state sticker to wisconsin. you will be really really hard pressed to find a job that pays enough to make paying those loans off comfortable. see, e.g., --LinkRemoved--

Wisconsin is not worth full out-of-state freight, even if you want to settle down in Wisconsin. Placement in NYC is negligible and, while Chicago placement is recovering from its CO 2011 lows, it was never particularly good outside the top 10%.
