Marquette's reputation in Wisconsin
How is graduating from Marquette viewed in Wisconsin? Is it a decent school? Will it offer decent jobs in Wisconsin?

It's obviously second to UW. Wisconsin markets are fairly insular, so you will probably need a connection to break into most of them. Feel free to PM me specifics of your situation: I'm fairly knowledgeable about the state.
No WI bar exam after graduating from UW/Marquette is nice, though....

the reputation is good, however i would be very very hesitant to go to the school absent a gigantic scholarship. tuition alone is 38k/year and cost of attendance is over 58k/year.
if you go at sticker you will have massive loans that will only be easy to pay off if you get biglaw. only problem is <10% of graduates got those jobs before the downturn. since the downturn (per class of '11's NLJ250 data) <6.5% of grads got those jobs.
there is only one firm paying a market type salary in the milwaukee market that i am aware of that isn't NLJ250 (whyte hirschbock).
now on the other hand if you have a huge scholarship (read: full tuition) you could do far worse if your ultimate goal is some non-big law employment in wisconsin. but be very very very careful taking out any significant amount of debt in the wisconsin market. most people from either UW (where i spent 1L) or marquette (where my mother and numerous friends went to/go to school) do well to find JD required employment paying in the 50s or 60s after graduation.

I'm from WI and have talked to lawyers and they say Marquette and UW are basically equivalent when trying to get a job in WI. I'm sure UW is more marketable outside the state though.
One lawyer (who went to UW) told me Marquette has a really tight alumni network - tighter than UW.

That's reassuring... I am wait-listed at Madison but regardless of where I go I want to practice in Wisconsin, so marketability doesn't matter to me.

Marquette's facilities are only a year or two old. Diploma privileges in Wisconsin. If you want to stay in Wisconsin, then Marquette is a solid choice.

Now the only problem is the cost...
