Baylor vs UH

Post by arabon66 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 8:39 pm

Hi guys. The schools I am debating on are Baylor and UH. Baylor offered me 21k/yr w/ a top 75% stipulation, while UH has not offered me any scholarship information. However, if I attend UH, room & board will be provided.

It seems that both will cost around $100k, provided I don't receive anything from UH.

What do you guys think?

Try to see if you can get any money out of UH. If not then it would largely come down to whether you want to be in Houston or Waco for the next 3 years. Having spent time in both I would want to be in Houston. It also depends on what you want to do. I know Baylor turns out lawyers with a lot of experience but they also make their 3Ls work a lot more than most if not all other law schools.

I wouldn't go to Baylor for anything. I only hear horror stories out of there.

If you want to practice in Houston, UH would seem to be the right choice.

UH without question, in my opinion. I also hear miserable stories coming from Baylor students. The workload is stupid (they work in trimesters which means more exams) and the 3rd year is the hardest. Also, it doesn't have a default market to feed into like Houston does. Also, there is little to no ranking difference between the schools, so that's out.

However, to each their own. You'll get a host of opinions but I think the majority will advise UH over Baylor.
