how does scholly negotiation work?

Post by swtlilsoni » Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:25 pm

I know its not likely but I feel that I should at least give it a shot. I got 84k from wustl and i was accepted ED to gulc. Can I still negotiate if im ED? If so, what do I do? Call them? How am i even supposed to approach this?

Email them, but I wouldn't expect anything. GULC will not likely negotiate with a scholly from a lower ranked school. The barely even negotiate with scholly's from higher ranked schools.

Um... Isn't ED binding? If it is your SOL.

What exactly do you have to "negotiate" with ? Hmmm.

You have no leverage. I guess you could try, but I wouldn't even waste the effort of sending an email.

Just send them an email and see if you can get special consideration for scholarship money. Possibly try to highlight some particular need for the scholarship.

Otherwise, apply for some mini-scholarships/grants from external organizations. There is usually some requirement that you hav some particular background or career goal, but I'm sure that if you dig there will be something you qualify to apply for.
