So what do you guys think? I know Cornell has a strong reputation for placement in NY. How does it compare to Duke?

Which would be the better choice for someone who wants biglaw in NY?

I think you answered your question. If you are SURE about NY, Cornell is probably the ~60% better call. Both would do it though...

EDIT: its probably more about whether or not youd like to go to school in the cold, ha.

Cornell would be a favorite in NYC, but again Duke does well also, you cannot go wrong at either, but I think Cornell does have a slight edge.

I would give Cornell the edge here but you can't go wrong with Duke either. Duke also has a lower COA, I believe, so make sure you take that into account once you start hearing about schollies.

Cornell costs $53,150/year. Duke costs $47,000. That's an $18,450 difference over three years. People forget that all stickers are not created equal. I was excited about my $30,000 Cornell scholarship until I realized that barely dipped under sticker at Duke. I'm not sure I'd be up for plunking down that kind of dough for Cornell at sticker, but it might give you a slightly better shot at NYC biglaw than Duke. I'm not sure I would have done any school at sticker, though. If you're comfortable with a ton of debt, then I guess go to Cornell. Historically, though, aside from last year, Duke has done at least as well in the NLJ250 placement rankings.
