Best T50 school in the south?

Postby knznick » Sun Jan 15, 2012 2:07 pm

Which T50 school in the south is the best in regards to employment after graduation?

Any opinions on the two Arizona schools?

Thanks,
Nick

Probably UT, since they are, by far, the most highly ranked and all. Although, I'm not going to check every single school on law school transparency, so that may be wrong. I don't really know too much about ASU and AU, though.

I'm sorry I should have specified, between the top 50 and top 14 please.

UT would be great but I don't think I quite have the numbers to be admitted there yet..

Thanks for the fast reply!

You need to be more specific. Where in the south?

Alabama will be better for Birmingham than SMU, but SMU will be better for Dallas than Alabama ....

Pick a specific market in the south and we can give you a better answer.

ETA: Since you think you won't get UT I'm guessing you probably aren't a strong applicant at Vandy, either.

its a tie between all state flagships. there really is no "best". You go to the school in the state where you wish to work.

UF, William and Mary, UNC. Depends on where you want to work though, southern schools are extremely regional.

Ok with numbers at 3.65/164 where do I stand a good chance.

I currently live in Texas and love it. I think the Texas, Arizona, and Alabama markets ate the most appealing to me.

OP, if you can't get into UT and want to remain in Texas, go to SMU for Dallas or UH for Houston. Do not go to Arizona or ASU for the purpose of coming back to Texas. Rankings are basically meaningless outside of the T14. If you want to stay in West Texas or the Panhandle, consider TTU with a nice scholarship.

If you want live and work in Alabama, go to Bama, if you want to work in PHX, go to ASU or Arizona. Do not go to a regional school in one market with the intent of ending up in a different market.

Sounds about right. You're gonna want to find a market you feel comfortable in the next 8 or so years and choose the school that best places there.

Odd usage of "the south" ITT (Arizona?).

FWIW, Alabama gives (or at least did when I was going through) very generous scholarship packages relative to other schools. I had a full-ride subject to a top third stipulation. If given the chance, I might go back and just take that; top third is easy as hell to make, and if you don't make it, just drop out.
