Answer: law school

ETA: but seriously, schools choose students who were able to at least graduate college, which generally makes for people unlikely to fail out except at the lowest ranked schools. Generally speaking the higher the rank the better quality student you will get.

grace_ashley wrote:What kind of school is it where no one is allowed to fail out, no matter how badly they perform?? Trust me... NO ONE wants to be in that school! I think that's why college has become the new high school as America's educational standards just fall and fall... but that's an issue for another discussion, I guess.

Sorry for sounding arrogant... not what I meant... I am so tired of being constantly surrounded by people who don't give a flip, you know? It's so demoralizing (and makes me grumpy, as everyone has noticed). I just want a school where I am not one of the only ones in the library! You learn so much more when the people around you are interested in what they're doing! How can you learn much if you're not surrounded by people who are smarter than you? Also, everyone knows it's hard to stay motivated without a little competition. It can be a friendly, co-operative, sportsmanlike thing. That's what I meant by competitive, not the cut-your-throat kind which I've never experienced, probably will, but certainly don't want to. Sorry you all haven't had experience with that kind of competition.

Getting a job is probably what I'll do eventually, and I hope to get good at what I do. (Thanks for the "encouragement" there... lol.) But acadmic excellence and excelling in a career are two totally different things. You can be terrible at one and awesome at the other. But before I get a job, I'd like to get a really good education.

The reason I've added that P.S. in the original post was because I've seen people on here get razed to the ground and talked out of law school for no good reason besides just snarkiness.

So back to the original question - are Duke's people actually that unmotivated? : )

What are your thoughts on population purification? I don't think you should have to deal with slackers in any aspect of life. I was on line at the bank the other day, and it took FOREVER. That damn teller was a slacker and a flunkie for sure! And he sure as heck made me as GRUMPY as the slackers in my undergrad!

Slackers do not exist at the T-14. Well, they may exist, but if they do, they are way smarter than you

Think about it. On one hand, a well paying, interesting job. On the other, a lifetime of debt and poverty. You think that isn't enough to motivate anyone?

If it helps they are doing this for your own good.

Your naivete is impressive and needs to go away, especially since it seems to be combined with a large dose of arrogance.

I think the OP wants a school full of d-bags like this guy: "New and Depressing Situation. PLEASE HELP ...probably would be very sad if I had to go anywhere lower than Columbia. I'm in love with Harvard. Don't care about money. ...how screwed am I [with a 178 and 3.68 or 3.74 from Yale]"

They seem like a great match for each other.

I don't think you should go to law school, you aren't serious/meant for this, go for a master's, find some other forum, blah blah

OP does have a point about GPA's.

A lot of schools give good grades to joke majors, and make sure nobody gets under an A- so people who study engineering/biology/anything competitive get screwed for working harder.

GPA should have no factor on admissions IMO.

Maybe you should write a letter to LSAC instead of trying to rehash this tired debate.

Like LSAC reads my letters. I don't even read my letters. My goal is just to accumulate as much power as possible, and make sweeping changes with little thought.

Lulz. Trust me, if you are in the bottom 10% at law school you have failed out, even if they let you keep paying tuition and showing up for class.
