Voted Virginia arbitrarily.

Figured something like this would happen.

When you ask for advice and a vacuum and don't tell anyone about yourself or your goals or your life, what did you expect?

I half expected to not get conclusive results, but had at least hoped for folks not to be jerks. Voting arbitrarily for one or voting for one or the other just to even out the vote is a bit of wienerheadry.

This. Or at the very least, try coming off as less of a douche when soliciting said advice. HTH.

Voted Vandy because if you are as much of a douche IRL as you are here, we don't want you at UVA.

Rad, you may want to be pushing him towards UVA. Pass-the-bing style, for any of you who grew up in the Angry Beavers cartoon era

OP is an imbecile. Voted wait for UVA only because I am on Vandy waitlist. I hope you take the year off without meaningful employment and dinged at UVA ED on 9/15.

that is a little overly harsh. agreed ED is a douche, but you're blowing it out of proportion.

I think waiting a year isn't the issue. It really comes down to money. I presume you feel you wont get money at UVA so the question is whether you want to go to Vandy and save $60,000 or go to higher ranked UVA. That depends on career goals. If your UVA degree will open doors that Vandy wont then go to UVA. On the other hand if you feel that there wont be a large difference go to Vandy and save money, The traditional advice here ( whether right ot wrong) is to go to higher ranked school and there is a big difference in rankings betweeen the two. Do you think you will get into UVA? If you arent sure what you want to do, withdraw from Vandy and reapply to both next year( explain to Vandy that you have decided to take a year off). Good luck!

Trying to keep OP from polluting the Vandy gene pool are we?

OP, your personal preferences might not matter, but career interests are a must if you want good advice. Do you have anything to do during your year off if you were to go for UVA? If not, you're losing 60k(+interest) +a year of work.

The OP needs to be keep his identity private so ad comms cant ID him but it would be helpful to let people know what your goals are. Not sure why so many are acting so rudely...must be summer boredom.

Chill out, the point of the question was to shed light on career goals or ambitions. It wasn't to out the OP. The question could have been answered without giving too much away while still allowing TLS to give this a better consideration.

It's the nature of TLS, I guess. Take it or leave it.
