Well, I'd think you might have some luck if you have a significant experience in the field you're looking in. But then why bother getting a law degree?
Thats what I was saying to begin with. With some hard work its definitely reasonable to work your way up to a 50k/yr job with a Bachelor's degree
For some people it's not all about money.
A 50k/year lawyer job that is not a public interest or government position is no one's dream. Id be willing to wager those types of jobs are all about the money.

ETA: If it really is your dream to work some shitlaw job, then go for it.

Direct loans /=/ GradPlus, right? If I'm reading that right, then only the Direct loans get forgiven after ten years, but you're still on the hook for the remainder?
Direct loans include Stafford and Grad Plus loans
My mistake. I forget all the different names for things and how they work roughly five minutes after filling out my finaid forms for the year.

I vote for OP going to Fordham and being as poor as possible for a decade+, in an effort to work the system and get loans forgiven.
This made me chuckle.

Honestly I haven't seen any strong arguments against going to Fordham yet. I am also completely shocked about how misinformed the people giving advice on this website are.

Well I never mentioned what kind of position I was looking for. That would have introduced more biases and honestly I'm not 100% sure.

I'm only sure that I want to practice law and from this discussion I am becoming sure that Fordham is the right choice.

Fordham is a great place to be if your plan entails being poor for decades?

Why Fordham: Out of all the law schools that I have been accepted to, Fordham gives me the best chance to land a job that I will love no matter how much I make.

Did I worry about debt in undergrad: No, I went to a state school and parents covered it. If you are wondering if I will be supported at all by inheritance, the answer is no.

Is this poor qualitative or quantitative?

I can live with one but not the other.

Can you describe "a job that you will love no matter how much you make," the chances of landing this type of job out of Fordham, and what you will do if you don't get this job?

Is this because it's the higher-ranked school or are there other factors involved (such as location).

Yes, but my class gets screwed here because state schools are broke. It would cost more than every private school I received money from. My state school gave me 5k and said sorry we have no money.

This thread was not about whether I should attend law school or not. I am attending no matter what. I just wanted to see some solid arguments against Fordham at sticker. Unfortunately, I am dissapoint.

and yes I have worked in a law firm. 75% of attorneys I encountered hated their job, but I loved every minute of it and wanted to jump into their shoes.

Were you raised on the East coast?

Would you be willing to accept a mid-law position?

Okay. If you're dead-set on law school, that's fine. It's your money. But my feeling is you're taking a huge gamble with such a heavy loan debt. I'm making the assumption (or deliberately misinforming you - you take this as you will) that Fordham places best in and around New York. You say you're in a state that is broke with several state schools - my assumption (again) is California. If you want to work in New York, have no interest in practicing in your home state, don't want to worry about debt load, and have really no interest in attending the other school you spoke of, go to Fordham.

I get the feeling that Fordham's Dean could've suggested to you this isn't a good idea and you'd still choose to go.
