I've only gotten to visit Gtown and am trying to arrange a trip to ithaca pretty soon. Any one have any ideas about the general culture at the two schools? I've heard that Gtown is a bit more cut throat but I could use some more perspective.

Also if anyone has any insight on lateraling out of NYC biglaw to California I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Again!!!

Out of curiosity, I know NYC taxes suck. Are the state taxes horrible too? And which ones (income, local, sales)? And are they really that much worse than DC?[/quote]

Yes. New York has the highest state taxes in the country. Also, you do have a good point about the bus commute, NYC parking sucks.

Anyone have any thoughts on the differences in culture between the two schools? My guess would be that Cornell has a more collegial environment considering its small class size but I've heard that it can be pretty cut throat. Considering Georgetown's massiveness and that it feeds into a tough market I would imagine that it is pretty competitive. If anyone has any thoughts on this I'd really appreciate it.

Cornell for sure. Cornell already rejected me, while Georgetown still has me on their waitlist. Do the right thing man, do the right thing.
