I do not really have a preference between working in Upstate NY or NE Ohio.

This is the decision you have to make.

I had to make this decision my self. I chose case because i don't want to live in western NY and because when visiting both schools Case seemed to really outshine Buffalo. It ranks better and the new dean at case give me a good vibe. I would choose Case. The debt will be worth it, especially since it's such a small difference.

I had to make a simillar decision between UB and Pitt. All things being equal knowing that you are from upstate ny is a good tie to the region, so employers wont be so leery about your story( hopefully). I chose Pitt mostly because of the feel. I didnt really like the fact that UG had classes in UB's law building, and were frequent visitors to the law library. Maybe its me being selfing and snobby, but the less i interact with undergrads, the happier I will be ( ive been out of UG for a while). Buffalo is a good school if you want ot stay in upstate ny, but if you have some desire to scout out another area to live- then doing so for law school will give you a decent tie to the area and allow you to live and get some experience ( summer internships) there. If you live there and realize you miss upstate ny you can always go back, but if you live in upstate, go to UB it will be more difficult to go to the other area.

I guess what worked for me was to take out every detail about the schools, your goals and what you are looking for in each. Take some time to do a bit of soul searching- and go from there. Since this is a big decision, you need to feel totally comfortable with your choice. Sure you may wonder what if, but you need to be confident in what your goals are ( right now, and how they could change in the future) and go to the school that best meets those goals.

Also- it seems as though you earned scholarships. Are there any stipulations to them? If so, can you get them lowered, or removed? If you have them- figure out the worst case scenario for each school ( losing them after 1L) and see if you would still be happy at the school paying full freight. If so- thats a winner. IF not, then dont go there ( if you feel good about both, then disregard the previous statement) There are a lot of schools in ohio though, so keep that in mind. Upstate NY has 3 and buffalo is the best choice fo all three of them ( not including cornell). congrats and best of luck! Om me if you want more info or havee any other questions or concerns.

the numbers for case in nyc might be worth looking into, the two nyc lawyers i've personally had contact with have been case alum. thats 100% of nyc lawyers coming from case.

When I got into UB with in state and 5k tuition it almost sold me. I thought for the price, why not move to Buffalo as a possible destination to settle down in. Visiting the law school, it was a typical state school. Visiting the surrounding area, oh god. The entire city is depressed, with only maybe one or two streets worth visiting. It seemed to once be a great city, but its time has long since past and is only falling farther into irrelevance and disrepair. (They do have good sports/loyal fans however) Im sure spending 3 years there would be fine - you wouldn't have to leave campus. However when making your choice factor in the years after graduation. Western NY doesn't have much going for it, and i don't see that improving anytime soon.

I don't know anything about case, but its in cleveland.
