Best gay scenes

I am applying to law school and have narrowed my choices down to:
Michigan, Penn, Cornell, Georgetown, Columbia, NYU, UCLA, Berkeley, Boston College, and Boston University.

Basically, I want to enjoy myself in law school as much as possible. I currently have an amazing social life here in Boulder and don't want it to end just because my workload in school is increasing. Also, I am a firm believer that fucking is as important to human health as eating and drinking, so I would prefer a school with hot guys, tbch.

Which schools that I've listed have the best "gay scenes"? (This means large LGBT populations, with active social lives, and lots of dating options for handsome young men) Are there any other T25/T30 I should be looking at that have better scenes? (Besides Yale, Harvard, and Northwestern since I doubt I am getting into those schools.)

Whatever value/moral judgements you have (i.e. that should not be how you pick your school, there is more to life than partying/having sex) you can keep to yourself. I don't put my values on you, keep yours off of me. This is an important factor in my decision making process.

Thanks :]

NYU is in the village, which is basically the gay epicenter. Morningside Heights is less gay, and IIRC, the LGBT contingent at Columbia is small, but it's still in NYC. You can find a gay bar pretty much anywhere.

Word on the grapevine is that Cumberland has a lot of gay men with lego hair.

In terms of a gay scene, the schools themselves probably have a horrible scene, but this list is based on the city surrounding/nearby the school:

Columbia/NYU/Berkeley>UCLA>Georgetown>BU/BC>>>>>>Penn>Michigan>Cornell

Other T25/30s?

Emory - Atlanta has a pretty decent sized population that I'd place after BU/BC but well ahead of Penn/Michigan/Cornell
GW - same as Georgetown
USC - same as UCLA
Texas - probably after Atlanta, but again, well ahead of Penn/Michigan/Cornell due to the proximity of Houston/Dallas
Fordham - same as Columbia/NYU

Other than that, there's nothing that comes to mind

Of course, you really shouldn't base your school off of this, and you likely won't have time to date. Grindr, is of course, an option ;)

Austin is great for lots of reasons not connected to it's proximity to Houston or Dallas. It has a thriving scene all on its own--probably bigger than any other comparably sized city in the country. It's a very laid back atmosphere. The undergraduate college is huge and has plenty of LGBT friendly organizations. I went to undergrad there and it was a lot of fun (not to mention state schools seem to have more attractive people, if that's an important factor for you).

However, it is in Texas, and the LGBT friendliness declines precipitously as you leave major metro areas.

Berkeley or NYU just going by location

I'd probably say Berkeley just cause it's so close to SF

I disagree. There are tons of gay guys in Philly. Go to Penn and live in South Philly or NoLibs.

At Northwestern you can live in Boystown and commute pretty easily. At UChicago it is a little more difficult but doable. Regardless, you can always take the train up and the City of Chicago is very gay friendly.

just pointing out that this isn't true. I haven't been there in awhile, but I can think of at least one and another one that changed into a salsa or something bar with gay days if I recall.

I don't really get this...there are so many gay people in Ithaca.

add UMN (they'll probably throw money your way if you're really a contender at the other schools you're looking at) and Northwestern to the list

ETA: if you're considering Columbia and don't think you're gonna get into Northwestern you should reevaluate your realistic choices here

unless you have no work experience

;) there ya go...

Also, I should say that this won't be my only consideration when picking a law school. However, both of my parents went to T15 schools and never did anything but study/work hard. I think working and playing hard is pretty necessary for one to be a functional human being. Just my opinion, but I would rather not go to a top 10 school and forsake making 200k a year if it means I am happy. Just putting that out there. But I know firsthand that happiness is a foreign concept to most lawyers...

I know that LA has a "good" gay scene, but I am really not down for like feather haired twinks tweaking out and grinding up on me. NY's scene is awesome and ideal for me, but Columbia and NYU are my reach schools (170/3.74 GPA). Furthermore, nobody has really discussed what the gay scenes are like at schools like Mich, Virginia, Berkeley (the middle T15).

Berkeley is Berkeley. What do you need to hear to confirm that Bay Area is gay friendly? I am straight, but lived in SF for two years, and trust me, there's a scene for everyone and everything, including any subset of the LBGT community you can think of. Or at least that I can think of.

Berkeley is near SF, but the East Bay isn't exactly a mecca of sexy dudes. Go to NYU.

28 1L Male Gays (starting class of 270 w/ appx. 150 male) which means we're pulling nearly 20%. Unfortunately it's only like 5 or 6% lesbian. . . but I don't think you care?

If you're looking for a great scene/community among the law students themselves, BU Law really does seem to have that. And Boston itself is a pretty great place to be gay.

BU's gay scene doesn't only supply great hookup potential, but excellent networking opportunities! We turn homosexuality into a serious career boost. The Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Bar provides insane networking and mentor-ship opportunities as well (though this also applies to BC). Furthermore, Goodridge v. Department of Health? You wan't to get married some day, right?

And . . . after reading the rest of the thread above my post, shut the fuck up 0Ls. Just because a school is located in a big, queer, city like NYC or San Fran doesn't automatically mean that the school caters to gays. I visited all these schools and personally evaluated the gay culture at each. UVA has a better gay scene than any school except for BU. Neither NYU or Columbia are as gay friendly as Penn or Cornell. Your hypothetical generalizations are not useful to OP.

gay scene ≠ the scene at the school (or that the school caters to the gays). there's no doubt in my mind penn or cornell (not so sure about UVA) are probably more "gay friendly" than GULC, but for a whore on a mission, he'll get better quality tricks in DC than in Philly or Ithaca.
