Down to 2 options. No debt or 40K of debt.

I would like to work on the EAST COAST. I want to keep doors open but I am not too keen on taking on debt.

Which would be the better choice? I can see myself practicing law for a few years and then trying to transition into business.

You probably won't get East Coast out of those two. But ND here if you really are going to come out of only 40K of debt.

This. ND probably has a higher chance of getting the northeast.

This, but...

Are you talking total debt? Is this just looking at tuition, or do you really have a way to take care of your COL for 3 years and have literally no debt if you go to Wake?

Let's see.. #39 with no debt vs #23 with an extremely low amount of debt. And in this case #23 has nationwide lay prestige while #39 is the pillar of legal education in North Carolina.

Tough choice.

Right, I am unsure. My parents spent a large some of money on my UG education ~ 115K for tuition, books, CoL, etc.

I hate to have them pay for anything more than they need to.

Wake gave me $30,000 a year and Notre Dame is giving me $20,000 a year.

I fail to see how Wake will not get you East Coast. Since NC is in fact, on the East Coast, and is Wake's primary market, you seem destined to end up on the east coast from Wake. However, ND, while carrying a lot of lay prestige, is in the midwest and feeds (or fed) heavily into Chicago.

By East Coast we usually mean NY or DC. NC is the South.

If you fail to get the northeast, would you rather be stuck in the midwest or NC? Pick the school that corresponds to that.

Also, if you don't want your parents to pay more, you could take an interest free loan from them as opposed to them straight up paying for your tuition.

So that's not COA then. That's a different equation then. Did they set an amount they will pay? How is ND 40k of debt?

NY and DC is NY and DC. The east coast is pretty big. Much of the south is, indeed, on the east coast.

Parents will pay up to 10K in tuition and CoL since it will be quite cheap and I earned such large scholarships.

If they are paying a set amount, then take Notre Dame. They'll be getting more for their money.

Wake Forest is on the East Coast. Notre Dame is in the Mid West.

And Wake Forest (LinkRemoved) is in the South. And places 64% in the South. Both place more than 10% in the NE, but Notre Dame (LinkRemoved) places nationwide.

As someone who grew up in Virginia, the idea that "The South" and "The East Coast" are mutually exclusive blows my mind. I've never heard it before. I just asked a bunch of coworkers, and some of them confirmed that East Coast and Northeast are synonymous, while others agree with me that it's ludicrous for North Carolina's southern status to exclude it from being designated East Coast.

The Pacific Northwest is part of the West Coast still, right? I can't believe after all these years I'm finding out that I'm not from the East Coast. I don't even know who I am anymore.

Are the options from ND that much better than Wake?

Would you go to UW if you wanted to practice in Los Angeles? Northeast and East Coast are no more synonymous than Pacific Northwest and West Coast.

Look at the breakdown at the bottom of the page. There are at least three general Atlantic regions. Nobody in New York is going to choose North Carolina over Indiana merely because they share an ocean.
