Illinois($$$) vs. GW($$) vs. Vandy ($)? (Poll)

My options currently are Illinois (COA - 60k), GW (117k) and Vandy (144k). Cornell might come into the picture if I manage to get some scholly info from them, and there's also a chance of Duke (likely at sticker). I'm hoping for biglaw after law school, with no regional preference. I'm leaning towards Vandy right now, esp bc it seems to offer relatively brighter career prospects but I'm wondering if it's worth the cost. Any thoughts will be very much appreciated.

Did you mean you were waitlisted at Duke? If so and if you got off their waitlist, you should go there. Vandy at $144K is close to full sticker. In that case, I don't even know if it has a clear advantage over Cornell.

You have no regional preference after school, but where do you live now?

Wait, you have a LSDAS GPA of 4.0? Retake, get a 171+, and shoot of UC or CLS at least.

I'm waitlisted at Duke and Vandy's giving me 20k/yr.

I took the December LSAT and I blew it. Hurts more cos i scored abt 7pts below my PT average. The problem is I don't think I can wait to apply next cycle. My financing situation is a little complicated, so it's either I start this year or likely not at all.

Even with Vandy's $20K/yr, I still don't think you should cross out Cornell yet given $144K COA is still a large amount of debt. What do you think your COA at Cornell will be with and without scholarship? Cornell places better in NLJ250, and you should consider that as well.

I'd take the Vandy money. $144k is a lot, but $60k is nothing to sneeze at. I wouldn't pay sticker for Duke or Cornell.

Vandy highballs their COL and it's still 4K per year cheaper than Cornell. You would be in an extra 75K debt if Cornell was sticker. I think you need at least 10K per year to go Cornell

If you don't mind midwest, I would take money at UIUC. If you do, then Vandy is a good bet, better than Cornell at that price. Although I think Duke at sticker deserves serious consideration if you manage it. Duke's a great school, and their LRAP is decent enough to get you by if you want PI work.
