OSU out-of-state tuition is just over $41k. $12k scholarship makes it $29k per year. Wake tuition is $38k. $20k scholarship to Wake makes it $18k per year. So, the math wasn't perfect when I did it in my head, it's probably closer to $33k and some change. As the old saying goes, "horse shoes, hand grenades and law school tuition estimates..."

No, you are almost certain to get in-state tuition after 1st year

Ahhhhh.... I was not aware of that. My bad.

So, the cost difference will be about $3k more for OSU compared to Wake (unless OP is already an Ohio resident).

OP: My new advice is to visit the schools (if you haven't already) and go to whichever one you feel is a better fit. Also, I know you said you don't care about location, but I think that's what it comes down to. Do you want to live in Ohio for the rest of your life? or North Carolina? (They are VERY different places) I really think these are peer schools and will provide you with very similar career prospects so it just comes down to which you prefer/feel is a better fit.

if OSU does in state after 1L, i'd probably go to OSU...neither of these locations look like they're really desirable anyways so might as well go to the debt averse one/higher rank if you dont care about region at all

I've been to Columbus, it's pretty nice there imo. It's a big city, and if you're into that, you should definitely go there. OSU is really nice, temperature is moderate and there are always things to do there. I can't say about NC, I've never been there. My cousin lives nearby, in SC, and it is HOT there. I'm rambling now, but you should really visit each place. Or at least research the places, cause they're very different from each other. If I had to pick one, I'd pick OSU.
