Emory 54k or USC 35k
Need to decide pretty shortly!!!!!
Emory is 60k.
USC is 35k.
Numbers are slightly fudged to stay anonymous, but difference is the same.
I would prefer to live in LA for the rest of my life, but would not mind living in the Southeast which would be my 2nd favorite region.
Goal is either big law, entertainment law at 100k starting or criminal defense in the private sector.
Is USC worth 31k in total tuition (when price differences are accounted for) + the extra COL?

I'm a little confused by your #'s here. What are those $60k and $35k? What is the total cost of attendance for each school?
I'd vote USC because of your goals/interests, but I'm still curious about those #'s.

COA for USC would be about 200 for 3 years.
COA for Emory would be about 140.
COA for Emory would be about 140.

If you want to be in LA, I'd take USC (as long as you're comfortable with that debt).

usc.
better job prospects and better location. 2x the chance of biglaw and clerkships.
If you are paying 140k already. 60k isnt that much extra.
Either way, you will need biglaw to pay back the loans. If you dont get it, you will need to depend on IBR at both schools.
Essentially your upside is a lot higher at USC and your downside is about the same if you go to usc.

I'd agree with this. Neither of these schools justify this level of debt.Aberzombie1892 wrote:Neither?
200k at USC has a very high chance of leaving you with soulcrushing debt and a 40-50k job to pay it off. USC is the better bet here, but it is still pretty awful.

Does your COA include living expenses? I think Emory overestimates living expenses.....
