Michigan (sticker) v. Duke $ v. Cornell (sticker)

Post by maw » Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:47 am

I'm trying to decide between Michigan with no money, Duke with 70,000 total, and Cornell with no money. I don't have ties to any of the schools or states for that matter.

I'm leaning towards public interest/government work, hopefully in DC.

Thoughts?

The $ at Duke makes this a no brainer. But, if you prefer Michigan or Cornell you could try to negotiate for a scholarship.

Does this make Duke's CoA around 100k? If so Duke is a great option for you.

I vote for Duke as well in this case. Duke is good for government and does well in DC.

Duke for the $. That said, Cornell was very open about matching comparable offers...

As it stands, Duke. If Cornell will match and you want NYC for certain, Cornell. With no preferences or anything else like mitigating factors, I see no reason to consider Michigan.

Like all the good people have said, Duke. Only mitigating circumstance: if Cornell or Michigan match them or more, and you have compelling reasons to go to Cornell or Michigan over Duke.
