UF 6k/yr v. Fordham 20k/yr

Postby cr1stina » Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:53 pm

So....I would've never thought I would be accepted to Fordham but I have just been accepted to their full time program. The biggest problem is that I have to let UF know by tomorrow if I will be attending in order to secure my scholarship there.

I think I ultimately want to work in S.Florida but I don't like the feeling of being stuck somewhere, and I would like some big law opportunities since I want to do something business law related. I also went to UF for undergrad and am reallyyy not looking forward to going back to Gainesville for 3 yrs. My biggest worry is the debt of course.

I was told by Fordham that they hadn't reviewed my need so I could be getting more....and I am pretty poor so hopefully I would.

If you don't know what to do, pay the seat deposit at UF and then consider your other options.

Then try dating & submitting it on April first (to give yourself a potential out). :D

On a more serious note, it does seem as if accepting Florida's offer is binding but, if you want to live & work in South Florida, then it is a great option.

Are you obliged to attend UF if you deposit there now? If not, it'd be best to deposit there and secure the scholarship at UF until Fordham figures out how much it's willing to give you. Beware that Fordham typically isn't generous since their endowment is fairly modest.

You're going to be tied down no matter where you go. Fordham won't give you better opportunities in FL than UF will give you in NY. You need to pick a region and go there, and it sounds like UF is the right choice for you.

Call the admissions office and ask.

Figure out whether you want NYC or Florida right now.
