Not sure where I want to end up....at a job that will pay off my loans?

Are these votes being swayed solely by rankings?

The money/CA location is not a negligible matter, right?

If you specifically want Southern California, I think USC is the way to go. Otherwise Cornell.

This, for most people the difference in biglaw prospects between Cornell and USC is worth the extra 45k. And if you don't necessarily want southern california than you certainly shouldn't go to USC over Cornell.

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like most people think 45k for an extra __% chance at biglaw is worth it. But current employment prospects are very disheartening. It can also seem like 45k is a huge gamble for that.

It's going depend on personal preference but historically cornell does around 20% better than USC in big law+article 3 clerkships. That seems like a large difference worth that amount but that is my personal preference

If you want to work in Southern California- go to USC. if you want NYC or other like minded NE schools- then go Cornell.
Figure out where you want to work- then go accordingly.

or if you want to be as cool as andy bernard- cornell all the way

For southern CA go to USC, anywhere else go to Cornell. Paying 45k for an extra 20% chance at biglaw is worth it IMO.

If you know you want to be in SoCal, USC seems like the obvious choice, although I'm pretty bias. I just wouldn't be excited about living in Ithaca for 3 years... No offense to anyone who likes taking a plane to a smaller plane to fly out into the forrest. I can tell you objectively however that going to USC has in no way disadvantaged my job prospects in SoCal, even when competing with higher ranked schools.
