My conclusion is that WUSTL has billions of dollars and that Loyola has less than 1/10th of WUSTL's $$$$$$$.

Exactly. $$$ is the principal reason WUSTL can maintain its (narrowing) advantage.

In reality, few people are deciding between BC and WUSTL. As this thread indicates, the decision is typically between a BC/WUSTL and a lower ranked school like Loyola or Connecticut. I mention Connecticut because a college friend from Wesleyan picked it over BC.

In terms of employment prospects, the gap seems to be widening.

I cannot wait to read your LRW memo. Come to Loyola and I will be your writing tutor.

My point was tangential to your rankings/medians discussion but I think my point is more important to the actual choice of where to go to school.

I see Loyola, 10.9%!

Wait that's the GOOD Loyola, the one in Chicago. Loyola LA is MIA.

I am the only member of my department on Law Review not going to a big firm this summer (I transferred and missed OCI). And we have several people clerking next year, including at least two (that I know of) on the 9th Circuit. I can PM you the names if you are interested.

What % of your class is on law review?
Also, aren't transfer students supposed to be able to participate in OCI?

51 staffers this year on LLR and 39 editors. Another 120 people or so on the other two law reviews.

Transfer students can participate in phase II of OCI. Phase I occurs before school starts, unfortunately.

The Editor-in-Chief of LLR next year is a transfer from the University of Oregon.

The other two reviews don't matter, but that's 20% of your class on LR, and I highly doubt that any more than about 1/3 of those are working for Big Law firms.

actually its more like 10%, forgot to split 2ls from 3ls. again, 10% biglaw is a fair assessment, similar to most schools. worth sticker? very risky

Not 20 percent. You have to consider the evening students.

1200 (total students) / 3 = 400

51 / 400 = 12.75 percent.

Approximately...

Thanks for that, hehe. 10% is even a little generous I bet, but it's definitely somewhere in the 5% to 10% range.

There are options other than biglaw. I worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission in DC last summer. You have to develop a job strategy that matches what you bring to the table.

What did you bring to the SEC table?

Three years of work experience in investment management. Passed first two CFA exams. Now I am publishing an Article on the new SEC Whistleblower Program (forthcoming in the Journal of Business and Technology Law at Maryland Law).... I could go on I guess.

As I said earlier. Are you a baller?

Impressive background for that line of work, seriously. You're surely on the right track.. I just don't see why you are at LLS though. :x

RETAKE.

(As an aside to others looking at LLS, this is the type of background you will need to have any chance at these types of jobs. If you don't have it, don't pay up for Loyola.)

LOL

Plenty of people at Loyola like me with experience

But I do concede LLS is mainly known for producing litigators

I certainly hope so. But if not I will do the Securities and Financial Regulation LL.M. at Georgetown and take it from there. I am getting engaged to a Georgetown undergraduate.
