For big/midlaw, preferably on the east coast.

Probably gonna be hard to get placement on the East Coast at either one of these, unless you finish up high in your class, have connections, or just kind of luck out. I've heard WUSTL has decent placement on the east coast -- but I'm not sure it's worth 30K more than UMN or UIUC. If you like the school a ton and aren't particularly debt averse, I guess it could be. IUB doesn't have much of a track record of placing anyone in big law, and it probably has the least regional flexibility of the four. So I'm not sure it's worth the savings in the case if you're not interested in actually practicing in the Midwest.

Did you get into any east coast schools?

This isn't about me, it's someone I know, just curious. My friend got into Rutgers and Temple, but with no scholarships, and withdrew from both.

Someone who wants the East Coast should be considering schools like BU, BC, GW, and Fordham--not the schools listed in the OP.

None

Reapply

No Dozo, BLS, St John's? FWIW I got 114k from Dozo and was rejected by UIUC

Assuming the person is fine with Chicago---UIUC is IMO the best choice

How did this person get accepted at those schools but only 90k at IUB? They were throwing around 120k to everybody.

I would bet the person is a splitter - I am, and while I got into Minn with the same scholly (waiting on WUSTL, didn't apply to IUB, WLed at UIUC), I got rejected at BC, didn't even bother with BU, WLed at Fordham and in PT at GW. Splitters have a tougher time at the East Coast schools.

I would go with UIUC / Minn. IUB apparently is not so strong in biglaw, and I think UIUC or Minn would offer at least a tiny chance at getting back to the east coast. WUSTL may have better east coast placement but is probably not worth the extra $30k. I voted Minn just because personally I'd rather live in Minneapolis for 3 years.
