I believe there are some huge shitlaw-esque nlj firms around NY or NJ that pay 80kish but with much higher COL, that would be like 50k in most places.
If anyone would be willing to investigate this while I cram for finals, I'd appreciate it.

Perhaps we could try to recreate this with V100, but my semi-substantiated hunch is that NLJ 250 is less overinclusive than V100 is underinclusive.

NLJ 250 is perfectly fine(and is actually underinclusive in itself). A grand total of 9 NLJ250 firms list salaries less than six figures (with the lowest being 72k in WV but all others being 80k or higher). These 9 firms are located in: Cincinatti, St. Louis, West Virginia, Syracuse(2), Louisville, and South Carolina(2). I dont know about Syracuse but in all those other places that is a very good salary. 90k in Louisville/St Louis gets you a lot more than 160k in NYC. For example, a 2 br luxury apartment in a very nice area of st. louis is like $1200-$1400/month and you can get a nice 1 br for ~$800/month.

True of Syracuse as well, except you can get nice one bedrooms for ~$650, and luxury apartments are $1000-$1200.

Thanks! But I actually meant the larger question of "are there any terrible low-paying sweatshop law firms in the NLJ250?"

Though maybe this is also resolved? My impression is that people are still discussing this.

Glad it's helpful!

I'm done with finals in a week; I'll make a note to come back and tidy things up then. Possibly add in those averaged figures (the ones that suggest it's really CCP, and also indicate that there's at most maybe a 10% drop from the "best" T1...3 to the "worst", usually CCP at 70 to Berkeley at 60.)

I get the argument that it's all different ITE. Maybe so. Still, sometimes people make too big a deal of differences between non-HYS T14s. I was kind of startled by the results here; based on the talk here, I was expecting to see a smooth and significant decline down through the T14, such that it'd be reasonable to say, e.g., "What? Go to Duke when you're in at Columbia? You're fucking crazy! You have like TWICE the odds of getting a job out of Columbia!"

All that said, I've tried to avoid letting my personal analytic bias alter the data, which I've attempted to report in a pretty straightforward way.
