Well the one good thing about Michigan is that the LRAP isn't limited to PI jobs but rather any law related job (idk how liberal they take that term). If you don't want biglaw I think that is something to consider. The $ at duke or the academic focus of Chicago might mean more to you though.

From what I've read, there's not a whole lot of truth to the "rumored atmosphere" to which you refer. Chi seems like a small, close-knit community, and I'm certainly excited about attending. Read through this thread for some good anecdotes from current students: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=140165

Bias aside, just visit all three, weigh the pros/cons, see what Chi's new LRAP looks like, and go where you want to go.

But I'd take the $60k at Chi and never look back.

Agreed. From what i've heard talking to current Chicago students, the whole "extremely rigorous" reputation they have is mostly undeserved. It's probably similar to any top law school.

This would also be my recommendation, especially when you're most likely going to be relying on something other than a biglaw salary to be paying back loans. Chicago may be the right school for you if you end up liking the environment (which you very well might) and the faculty, but I would visit the schools and compare LRAPs first. If you're paralyzed by indecision, these visits will help.
