that is so awesome. i wish this year would have been as exciting as that was!
That was a fun night. We were all living vicariously through Opera :-)
You guys are too sweet. I was bored and not tired and living in downtown Manhattan (where I no longer live, unfortunately). TLS gave me a lot. If I was able to give back, it makes me glad to know... it was a good memory, that being the ultimate paradox.
I remember that night very vividly. It was a lot of fun with a healthy dose of drama. Thanks again Opera your school should have given you a full ride!!

What's this "national/regional" nonsense about?

One move by the ABA and we can finally have some sanity... and shit, maybe we won't have people paying 150k because they think they'll have a 90%+ chance at Big Law salaries...
CR, although the fact that these people still exist despite all the information to the contrary makes me think law schools/ABA aren't the only ones to blame.
Some of that is psychology. Even with perfect information, some people would ignore the base rate because they believe they'll be in that top (half, third, 75%, etc). Perhaps it's human nature to believe this, but I agree that the ABA needs to demand better information. USNews is also in a position to demand it, but it kind of bothers me to think about a news magazine growing even more powerful.

noticed something interesting while looking at the new rankings -- can someone explain to me how the median private starting salary for #42 maryland is 70k while the median private starting salary for #61 temple is 135k? am i missing something? are temple law grads really making double what maryland grads are making?

I double checked the numbers and yes, Duke is reporting a drop in employment.

--ImageRemoved--
This was also the case with Emory in last years rankings. We know how that worked out for them the next year.

Therefore, I'm predicting Duke dropping 8 spots next year and completely out of the then newly-anointed T12.

Those kinds of falls aren't as bad as they look really. The raw numbers are tight in that range, you could lose like 2 points and drop 30 spots.

wow sounds like class rankings in law school haha

and yeah I just looked it up and realized they were 67 last year too--I must have been thinking about the year before when they were at 61.

I think as far as regional schools go, as long as the overall hierarchy remains the same, its ok [ie. the 17 schools ranked between cardozo and bls will not have better job placement in nyc than bls] but I definitely think that cardozo is really separating itself from "peer school" status and moving into 4th place for nyc.

Being at bls, I never expected it to be even tied to fordham, but I think as long as it is considered a peer school to cardozo I will be happy.

FSU = T50

The rankings are pretty boring though. I thought US News would have a found a way to shake things up somewhat. But no, not really. The only really notable things are UT, Davis, and Wash U. While they don't really mean anything, they are interesting developments.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
