@MTal, you might has discussed this, so excuse if it is repetitive.

1. What school (if possible), did you drop-out of? Could you give a range?
2. How far were you into your studies?
3. What was the primary driver of your decision?

Thanks in advance.

Do the majority of T-14 grads who pay sticker end up unable to service their debt obligations?

Pretty sure he was at Columbia, but I could be wrong. I also think that his insanely hot wife makes all of his decisions for him, but I could be wrong.

Can't be. You don't have to study at BU.

Hmmm, possibly, but knowing MTal and his keen investment and financial acumen, I really doubt it would be anywhere south of maybe NYU Law.

1. T2 state school, partial scholly. Kicked ass 1st semester, bombed the 2nd.
2. Finished 1L
3. Poor job market, didn't want to go further into debt for dubious job prospects. Also had a reasonably useful undergrad degree. To be fair, I should also consider myself very very lucky. I was hired about a month after I decided not to come back for the only job that I applied. I had a buddy working at the company (it's a discount brokerage firm) which helped things obviously. All in all I consider myself to be very lucky given the current state of affairs today.

Yeah you went to a T2 school on a partial scholly, finished below median and are bitter that you had to drop out. This should provide us with an unbiased perspective.

No, not even close. Im sure there are some though.

ETA: I should add that sticker today is a pretty big jump from sticker even 5-8 years ago at some of these schools.

Haha, it was kind of a rhetorical. MTal does have a legitimate point, the problem is that he is dealing in absolutes (everyone paying 200k for law school will fail!) and he is an absolute dooosh.

What do you think the reason was behind you doing so well first semester to dropping performance drastically second semester?

Law schools, as I'm sure you know, insiduously ramp up the workload beginning in the 2nd semester. On top of that, our legal writing was graded so I stopped spending most of the day preparing for the next day's class and began to focus almost solely on legal writing. I thought I could just catch up on the readings later with all my supplements but looking back, it was coming to class prepared having read the case briefs and all, is what really solidified the concepts in my head the first semester. In the end, that is what hurt me most I believe.

I know a few people people who went to MVP range schools and have no jobs lined up. They were typically around median, give or take a little bit. Its not like they totally sucked at law school. Two had scholarships, though I'm not sure how much. But the one who went at sticker I feel real bad for. Like I said, HYS, and perhaps CCN can be justified at sticker, but you would have to be real cavalier to go for the lower T14 at sticker. At that point, you might as well try and get yourself a juicy scholarship from a slightly lower-ranked school.

Yes, very well know. Here's to ungraded LRW. Good stuff, though. Thanks.

I think the tragic part is being 6 figures in debt with no job.

It was Northwestern not UVA. The bits of story I've heard is that he is a terrible interviewer fwiw.

Did he disclose this himself?
