Should BYU Law be ranked No. 2?
and Chicago number 1?
Malcolm Gladwell's ranking system has some interesting results. He uses value vs. LSAT vs. faculty publishing. Better than US News system?

2) BYU
3) Harvard
4) Yale

Plus you can't weigh the LSAT as 40% and not consider GPA.

Agree with above, total bullshit. The only thing that matters is prestige whoring and job placement. We're talking about fucking professional schools, not the life of the mind.

The point is that all rankings are shit, but some people actually pay attention to the USNWR rankings, which is the only ranking system that does correlate (loosely, and very loosely after T18) to hiring practices.

Malcolm Gladwell is ludicrously overrated and the rankings system he proposes is terrible.

Here's my ranking system:
Rank based on *real* employment statistics and bar passage rates, LSAT and GPA can be thrown in there too, but stuff like library size and acceptance rate are too easily gamed.
Top 20 schools are ranked as national schools
What is now 21- ~125 would be regionally ranked
All other schools would be demolished or turned into campus food courts

Re: Should BYU Law be ranked No. 2?
as a Utah boy going to UChi next year, I admit I love these rankings.
All that ranking is bullshit talk aside, its pretty interesting that BYU gets No. 2 with its 164 LSAT median when the LSAT is weighted at 40%. Faculty publishing and value have to be huge for the school to get that high.

I don't think he proposes any rankings system. I thought that this was his point in the article.Bildungsroman wrote:Malcolm Gladwell is ludicrously overrated and the rankings system he proposes is terrible.

The point of the article was for him to make some ludicrous claim (BYU as #2) to get publicity.casterfield wrote:I don't think he proposes any rankings system.
